House Majority Leader Eric Cantor of Va., left, and House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy of Calif., right, meet reporters on Capitol Hill in Washington, Monday, March 14, 2011, as Congress resumes work on another short-term spending compromise to keep the government running. (AP Photo) AP – The House on Thursday voted to end federal funding to National Public Radio. Republican supporters said it made good fiscal sense, and Democratic opponents called it an ideological attack that would deprive local stations of access to programs such as “Car Talk” and “All Things Considered.”
